Nocchi is an adolescent pit bull mix who was brought to the SHS several months ago due to neglect. He was severely malnourished and near death weighing only 17 pounds. Through the love and faith of dedicated SHS staff and volunteers, Nocchi has battled back and regained his strength. He now weighs a healthy 44 pounds. Amazingly, none of the abuse and neglect Nocchi endured has changed his lively spirit. He is a loving and playful companion. Nocchi spent the early months of his life deprived not only of nourishment, but of attention as well. He adapted quickly to living in a foster home, learning boundaries and expectations. Nocchi is housetrained and crate trained. His foster parents have been using a clicker to teach him all kinds of things, and Nocchi loves to learn. He knows how to sit and is working on his leash manners. He also has a great recall. Nocchi is respectful of household items and only plays with toys he knows are his. When he's finished playing, one of Nocchi's favorite activities is to stare lovingly at you and cuddle next to you on the couch. Sometimes Nocchi has a hard time sharing toys and treats. He is doing much better, but his new family will need to continue the training his foster parents have started. Nocchi currently lives with other dogs, but he will do best as an only dog so he doesn't have to worry about sharing food, toys, and attention.
